Discover Golinhac

Golinhac is a French village, located in the department of Aveyron and the Midi-Pyrénées. The inhabitants are called les Golinhacois. The foundations laid by the Romans on a road (Estrada), a village in the eleventh century the Carolingian period, was the site of an Viguerie (jurisdiction of a governor)

At the entrance of the village on the south-east shows a stone cross from the XV century emphasized the close relationship with the pilgrimage of Saint-Jacques on. Chemin de St Jacques de Compostella (GR 65)

The French section of the Chemin de St Jacques de Compostella, has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO. First Cultural Route of the Council of Europe. The pilgrimage of St Jacques de Compostela is a Catholic pilgrimage, with the aim of legendary tomb of the apostle St. Jacques, Jacques le Majeur, located in the crypt of the Cathedral of St. Jacques de Compostela in Galicia (Spain).

The Pilgrimage is one of the three most important pilgrimages in Christendom after Jerusalem and Rome.
